PSU Field Hockey freshman earns LEC honor
Carroll named Rookie of the Week for Panthers
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – One of the
freshmen on the Plymouth State University field hockey team was
recognized by the Little East Conference Tuesday with one of the
top weekly honors after her performance for the Panthers last
week.
Freshman Lauren Carroll (Rollinsford, N.H./Somersworth) was named LEC Rookie of the Week after PSU’s victory over Westfield State on Saturday. She is the third Panther freshman to earn LEC Rookie of the Week this season, joining Annabelle Frenette (Old Orchard Beach, Maine) and Jackie Morin (Scarborough, Maine).
A 5’6” forward, Carroll (right) recorded her
first career hat trick Saturday in PSU’s 4-2 win over
Worcester State. The Lancers took 1-0 and 2-1 leads, and each time
Carroll scored to tie the game, and then she completed the hat
trick with the go-ahead and eventual game-winning goal with 30
minutes to go in the second half.
The Panthers, who went 2-0 last week to improve to 10-5 overall and 8-2 in the LEC, wrap up the regular season with two games this week – Tuesday at home against Saint Joseph’s College and Saturday at Bridgewater State.
