Pandiscio and Garvey represent Panthers
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two Plymouth State University female student-athletes were recognized by the Little East Conference Monday with two of the top honors in the first weekly report of the 2011 fall season.
Senior Sarah Pandiscio was named LEC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, and freshman Nikki Garvey was selected LEC Field Hockey Rookie of the Week. They were instrumental in the PSU teams getting off to a good start to the season as the field hockey squad is 3-0 and the women's soccer team is 2-1.

A 5'7" defender, Pandiscio led a Panther defense that allowed only two goals in the first three games of the season. PSU sandwiched shutout victories over New England College (3-0) and Castleton State College (1-0) around a 2-1 setback to Colby-Sawyer College. The Panther defense limited all three o its opponents to fewer than 10 shots in their respective games.
A 4'11" forward, Garvey helped PSU to a 3-0 start to the season with three goals in her first three collegiate games. She tallied the final goal in PSU's season-opening come-from-behind 4-2 win over Endicott College; she notched the third goal of the first half in PSU's 4-3 win over Castleton; and she scored for the third game in a row in Saturday's 3-0 LEC win over Western Connecticut.
Both squads continue play this week as field hockey hosts New England College Tuesday in a non-conference contest at 4:00 p.m. before making trips to Colby-Sawyer College on Thursday and Worcester State University on Saturday, and the women's soccer squad travels to Green Mountain College on Wednesday before hosting the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Saturday in an LEC match-up at 4:30 p.m.
