PSU Field Hockey powers past Westfield State
Unbeaten Panthers improve to 7-0
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Plymouth State University out-shot Westfield State University 22-1 Saturday afternoon and registered a 3-0 victory over the Owls in Little East Conference field hockey action at Arold Field.
PSU scored all three goals in the first half, and kept the pressure on the Owls goal the entire afternoon. The Panthers remain undefeated this season at 7-0 overall and 3-0 in the LEC, while Westfield State drops to 6-2 and 1-2.
PSU got goals from sophomore Jackie Morin, junior Olivia Colborn and senior Erin Norris, with senior Lauren Bergeron picking up an assist. Colborn leads the team with six goals and one assist, and Morin ranks second with five goals and three assists.
Senior Amanda McCarthy had a busy afternoon in the Owls' net, making 10 saves. The score could have been more lopsided were it not for Owl defensive saves by sophomore Kerri Kinsella and freshmen Kelsey Carpenter and Kelly Kenney.
PSU looks to extend its unbeaten streak Wednesday with a key LEC game at rival Keene State College (6:00 p.m.). Westfield State returns home to host Bridgewater State University in an LEC match-up on Wednesday (7:00 p.m.).
