PSU Field Hockey player receives All-Region Honors
Garvey represents Panthers on Second Team
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The leading scorer on the Plymouth State University field hockey was honored Monday with selection to the 2013 Longstreth/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III All-Region Team.
Junior forward Nikki Garvey (Canaan, N.H./Mascoma) earned Second Team honors in the New England West Region, which includes team in the Little East Conference and New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), among others. Garvey is the first PSU field hockey player to earn All-Region honors since Ashley Gutowski in 2008.
Garvey had an outstanding season for the Panthers, leading the Little East Conference with 25 goals and 57 points. She also ranks eighth in the nation in NCAA Division III in goals per game and 10th in points per game. Garvey became just the third player in school history to score at least 25 goals in a season, recording hat tricks in five games and tallying a pair of goals in two other contests.
Garvey has upped her career total to 44 goals and 16 assists for 104 points, sixth on PSU's all-time list for goals and fifth for points.
