Another post-season honor for Panther star Burgess

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Plymouth State University field hockey team's top-scorer was awarded yet another honor Wednesday when the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced the 2016 Longstreth/NFHCA Division III All-Region teams.

Senior Nicole Burgess (Mexico, Maine/Mountain Valley) was named to the All-New England West Region Second Team for the Panthers.  The recognition follows in line with previous honors Burgess has accumulated this post-season, including First Team All-Little East Conference (LEC) for the second straight year and an appearance in the Victory Sports Tours/NFHCA Division III Senior Game.

Burgess was one of just five LEC student-athletes to be honored and one of 197 athletes receiving first or second-team recognition across the six regions nationally.  The forward enjoyed a spectacular senior campaign, leading the Panthers with career-highs of 16 goals and 37 points in 17 games.  She was also tied for the team lead with three game-winning goals.

Burgess finishes her career with 32 goals, seven assists and 71 points.  Plymouth State ended the year 11-6 overall, finishing in a tie for third place in the LEC.  The Panthers advanced to the LEC semifinals before falling to top-seed Keene State.
