McPherson named to Weekly Honor Roll

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Sophomore Kate McPherson (Conway, N.H.) was named to the Synapse Sports NCAA Division III Field Hockey Weekly Honor Roll after helping lead the Plymouth State University field hockey team to a pair of shutout victories last week.

McPherson, who was also named the Little East Conference Defensive Player of the Week, is the first PSU athlete to earn recognition from the Synapse Sports staff this fall. The 5-2 defenseman played a key role for the Panthers, contributing to a defense that has allowed zero goals in its last three games.

McPherson also provided an offensive spark for the Panthers, scoring a pair of goals for the week, including the game-winner in a 1-0 defensive battle with LEC foe the University of Southern Maine last Tuesday (Sept. 27). It was McPherson's second game-winner of the year. She added a penalty stroke goal in PSU's 4-0 shutout of Western Connecticut State University on Saturday (Sept. 30).

Plymouth State (8-2, 6-1 LEC) will travel to Worcester State (8-2, 6-0 LEC) for a huge LEC contest on Saturday. A win would move PSU into a tie for first place with just three conference games remaining. Game time is slated for 12:00 p.m.
