Distler named Goalkeeper of the Week

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The starting goalkeeper for the Plymouth State University field hockey team was honored by the Little East Conference (LEC) after her strong performance last week.

Sophomore Jess Distler (Brookfield, N.H.) was named the LEC Field Hockey Goalkeeper of the Week after leading the Panthers to a 2-1 overtime win over Bridgewater State University in the LEC opener on Saturday, PSU's lone game of the last week.

Distler was outstanding in goal, making 12 saves in the win. After giving up an early goal, she made a number of sprawling stops to keep the game close. The Bears' offense fired 20 total shots, including 13 in the second half alone, but Distler was up to the challenge preserving the tie and giving the Panthers an opportunity to win in overtime.

PSU is back in action on Friday (Sept. 14) at the New Hampton School for a 7:00 p.m. contest against LEC foe Framingham State University.
