Panthers named to National Academic Squad
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Eight members of the Plymouth State University field hockey team were included when the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) announced the 2019 Zag Field Hockey/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad.
A total of 1,943 student-athletes representing 157 NCAA Division III institutions were honored. The Division III National Academic Squad program honors student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher through the first semester of the 2019-20 academic year.
Panthers earning the distinction are seniors Keeley Bartolini (Topsham, Maine), Maddie Kabasakalian (Kent, Conn.) and Kaihley Rafferty (Salem, Conn.), junior Haley Wakefield (Norway, Maine), sophomores Meaghan Allard (Amherst, N.H.) and Kaitlyne Silva (East Providence, R.I.) and freshmen Hailey Crowley (Campton, N.H.) and Emma Revaz (New Boston, N.H.)
Kabasakalian is a four-time honoree, while Rafferty and Wakefield achieve the honor for the third time. Allard, Bartolini and Silva are all two-time recipients.
Led by 20th-year head coach Bonnie Lord the Panthers finished 8-10 overall and 6-6 in the LEC, earning the seventh seed for the LEC Tournament. PSU fell at second-seeded Keene State, 4-0, in the opening round. Lord earned her 250th career victory following a 3-0 win over Fitchburg State on Sept. 21.
