PSC Men's Hoop captures N.H. Tap-Off Classic
CONCORD, N.H. - Senior Adam DeChristopher (Brockton, MA) scored 20 points Saturday and earned Most Valuable Player honors as Plymouth State College defeated Notre Dame College, 91-58, for the championship of the N.H. Tap-Off Tournament, hosted by N.H. Technical Institute.
DeChristopher, a pre-season All-American point guard, also scored a game-high 21 points in PSC's semi-final victory Friday over Mt. Ida College. For the tournament, he shot 48.3 percent from the floor (14-29) and added eight steals, seven assists and six rebounds.
Joining DeChristopher on the All-Tournament Team were PSC junior Todd Martin (East Bridgewater, MA), Notre Dame freshman Alonzo Hoose (Amherst, MA), Mt. Ida sophomore Anderson Noel (Taunton, MA), and St. Joseph's College (Vt.) junior Ralph Quigley (Weehawkin, NJ).
Martin averaged 13 points and 5.5 rebounds for PSC in the tourney, including 18 points in the title game. He connected on 62.5 percent of his shots (10-16), hitting 7-of-9 from the floor in the championship game, including all four three-point attempts.
Also contributing solid efforts for the Panthers were senior guard JaModi Robinson (Framingham, MA), who averaged 10.5 points in the tournament, and senior center Jamal Pettiford-Jones (Portsmouth, NH), who averaged a team-high 11 rebounds in the two games.
The Panthers are off to a 2-0 start under first-year head coach Jim Ferry. Plymouth is now idle until a contest on Thursday, Dec. 3rd, at New England power Salem State (8:00 p.m.). The Little East Conference opener is Saturday, Dec. 5th at Western Connecticut (3:00 p.m.), and the home debut is Monday, Dec. 7th, vs. Rivier College (7:30 p.m.).
