By Dave Vigliotta, Student Assistant
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The star of the Plymouth State College men's basketball team has been honored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference and the Little East Conference for his performance in two games last week.
Senior Adam DeChristopher (Brockton, MA) was selected to the ECAC New England and LEC weekly honor rolls for his commanding play this past week. He helped PSC remain undefeated with a pair of strong road wins at Salem State and Western Connecticut.
A 6'1" point guard, DeChristopher averaged 23.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals in the two wins. He continues to put up phenomenal numbers, shooting 53.3% from the field, 54.5% from 3-point land, and 80% from the line during the week. DeChristopher's consistency haunts opponents, as he has scored at least 20 points in PSC's first four games. He can also put up numbers in the clutch, as evidenced when he knocked down three free throws in the final eight seconds to clinch the win at Western Connecticut last Saturday in the LEC opener.
For the fourth straight season, DeChristopher is among the LEC leaders in several individual statistical categories. He is third in scoring (21.8 points per gam), second in steals (3.5 per game), and fourth in assists (3.8 per game). An excellent shooter as well, DeChristopher is eighth in overall field goal percentage (.508), 12th in free throw percentage (.708), and ninth in the LEC in 3-point percentage (.385).
PSC improved to 5-0 under first year head coach Jim Ferry with a 103-64 win over Rivier in the home opener. The Panthers hope to continue the onslaught as they go head to head Saturday (Dec. 12) at LEC rival Rhode Island College (3:00 p.m.). Plymouth State will also host the Panther Holiday Classic at Foley Gymnasium on Dec. 29-30.
PANTHER NOTES: Junior forward Todd Martin (East Bridgewater, MA) leads the LEC in 3-point percentage (.615), connecting on 8-of-13 tries.....Senior Josh Farnsworth (Windsor, VT) has a .360 percentage and ranks 12th in the same category......Senior guard Todd Steffanides (Fitchburg, MA) has put up some strong numbers coming off the Panther bench. He is third in the LEC in both assists (4.0/game) and steals (3.3/game).... Senior Jamal Pettiford-Jones (Portsmouth, NH) is third in rebounding (8.5 per game), and classmate Eric McQueen (Lawrence, MA) is fifth in blocked shots (1.3 per game), while averaging 9.6 points and 2.6 rebounds an outing.
