More ECAC & LEC Weekly Honors For PSC Men's Hoop player

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Another week for the Plymouth State College men's basketball team, and another set of weekly honors for the star point guard of New England's sixth-ranked team..

Senior Adam DeChristopher (Brockton, MA) was named to this week's Little East Conference and Eastern College Athletic Conference New England Weekly Honor Rolls after helping keep the Panthers alive for an LEC title and a Division III post-season berth. PSC had its six game winning streak stopped last Thursday at Bridgewater State, but rebounded to defeat defending LEC champion UMass Dartmouth Saturday to sweep the season series from the Corsairs.

The Panthers, 14-5 overall, 8-2 in LEC games and tied for sixth in this week's NCAA New England poll, remain a game behind Keene State in the LEC standings under first-year head coach Jim Ferry. Only two weeks remain in the regular season, including a key game for the Panthers at Keene State next Wednesday (Feb. 17).

A 6'1" point guard, DeChristopher averaged 23.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 7.5 assists last week, connecting on 23 points in both PSC games. He shot 44.5 percent from the field and canned 18-of-23 free throws, adding four steals to earn weekly honors for the sixth time this season and 10th time in the last two years.

For the season, DeChristopher is second in the LEC in scoring (21.2) and assists (4.7) and fourth in steals (2.6), while also appearing among the league leaders in field goal percentage (.460), free throw percentage (.796), 3-point field goal percentage (.368), and successful 3-point field goals (46).

In addition, DeChristopher has made 236 career three-pointers, and needs 38 more to break the school record for career "threes", held by Moses Jean-Pierre (273 from 1990-94). DeChristopher has scored in double figures in 35 consecutive games, dating back to last season.

PSC plays a pair of LEC home games this week at Foley Gymnasium - Wednesday (Feb. 10) against Southern Maine (7:30 p.m.) and Saturday (Feb. 13) vs. UMass Boston (3:00 p.m.).

PANTHER NOTES: Senior Eric McQueen (Lawrence, MA) has 957 career points, and needs 43 to become the 15th Panther men's basketball player to hit the 1,000 point milestone.....Sophomore Tony Martinez (Barnstead, NH) averaged 20.0 points and 7.5 rebounds last week, while shooting .739 percent from the field (17-of-23) and scoring a career-high 28 points in the win at UMD. Over the last six games, Martinez is averaging 18.6 points and 7.8 rebounds....PSC's game last Tuesday at Castleton State was not played because snow conditions prevented the Panthers from making the trip. The game has been rescheduled for Thursday, Feb. 18 (7:30 p.m.).
