PSC Men's Basketball forward named to LEC Honor Roll

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The Little East Conference announced its first weekly honors of the season for men's basketball, and Plymouth State College junior forward Tony Martinez (Barnsted, NH) was selected to the Weekly Honor Roll.

Martinez began the season strong, being named MVP of PSC's Tip-Off Classic after averaging 15.5 points and 3.0 rebounds in two games. Martinez came back with a season high 20 points against Notre Dame last Tuesday as PSC improved to 3-0 under first year coach John Scheinman.

Shooting 50.0 percent from the field (23-for-46), Martinez leads the team with 17.0 points per game average. He has led the team in points in all contests so far this season dropping in 17 against Curry, 14 on Ithaca, and 20 vs. Notre Dame.

Panther Notes: As a team the Panthers are leading the LEC in scoring margin, rebounding, field goal percentage, and free throw percentage...Sophomore Jason Blackburn (Hudson,MA) leads the team in rebounding 9.0 per game and is among the leaders in the LEC. He also has a team high .733 shooting percentage... Senior Shannon Gallagher (Plymouth, NH) is closing in on 1,000 career point mark. Gallagher scored 699 points for Norwich from1995-97, and has 282 for the Panthers for a career total of 981. ......The Panthers are home this Thursday Dec. 2 at 8:00 p.m. to square off against Salem State.
