Finklea named to LEC Honor Roll

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two members of Plymouth State College's basketball teams were recognized by the Little East Conference for their performances in Panther games last week.

Junior forward Heather Adey (Nashua, N.H.) was selected LEC Women's Basketball Player of the Week, and sophomore forward Frankie Finklea (Dorchester, Mass.) was named to the LEC Men's Honor Roll.

A 5'10" forward, Adey averaged 20.0 points and 8-0 rebounds in three games last week, leading or sharing the team scoring lead in all three contests. She shot 66.7 percent from the floor, converting 28-of-42 field goal attempts, helping PSC win two out of three. Adey registered career-highs with 27 points and 14 rebounds in last Saturday's 82-71 LEC setback to Eastern Connecticut, the 8th-ranked team in the country (by D3hoops.com).

Adey is having her best season to date, averaging 14.3 points and 7.9 rebounds and shooting 60.5 percent from the floor. She leads the conference in field goal percentage and ranks seventh in scoring and eighth in rebounding.

PSC's loss at Eastern Connecticut was the team's first of the season after beginning the campaign with seven straight wins, the strongest start to a season in school history. The Panthers take their 7-1 record into a non-conference affair Monday (Dec. 10) at home against Saint Joseph's College (7:00 p.m.).

A 6'3" forward, Finklea averaged 20.5 points and 5.0 rebounds as PSC finished off a 2-0 week. He shot 59.1 percent from the floor and 75 percent from three-point range, connecting on 3-of-4 attempts from long range in both games. He led PSC in scoring in both games, dropping in 20 in a triumph over New England College and adding 21 in a big conference win over Eastern Connecticut.

The LEC Rookie of the Year last season, Finklea is currently ninth in the conference in scoring (12.9 ppg) and leading the LEC in three-point field goal percentage (.500, 14-of-28).

The Panther men, 5-2 overall, will host Bridgewater State Tuesday (Dec. 11) in a non-conference match-up at Foley Gymnasium (7:00 p.m.).
