PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The senior captain of the Plymouth State College men's basketball team has started 2002 off on the right foot, and has been honored for doing so by the Little East Conference.
Senior Jason Blackburn (Hudson, Mass.) was named to the LEC Weekly Honor Roll after his performance in PSC's only game last week, a tough 93-91 loss at home Saturday to Western Connecticut State University.
A 6'5" forward, Blackburn tossed in 25 points and grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds for the Panthers. He hit 10-of-18 field goal attempts, while also dishing out four assists and blocking one WCSU shot.
A Second Team All-LEC pick last season, Blackburn is among the conference leaders this year in scoring (13.2 ppg), rebounding (7.3 rpg), field goal percentage (.489) and free throw percentage (.800).
The Panthers, 6-4 overall and 1-2 in conference games, play their next five contests on the road. There are three games this week, conference encounters Tuesday at UMass Boston (7:30 p.m.) and Saturday at Rhode Island College (3:00 p.m.), sandwiched around a non-conference battle Thursday at Bowdoin (5:30 p.m.).
