PSC tumbles at UMass Dartmouth
s Saturday, leading the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth to an 85-62 victory over Plymouth State College in a Little East Conference men's basketball game.
The win improves UMD to 11-5 overall and 5-2 in LEC action, while PSC had a modest two-game winning streak stopped and dips to 9-6 overall and 4-3 in the conference.
Cagle finished with a game-high 16 points and 12 rebounds for the Corsairs, while Walsh contributed 14 points and eight boards. Junior Tim Gaspar (Dartmouth, Mass.) chipped in with 12 points and six assists, and seniors Brian Austin (Winchendon, Mass) and Ivan Britto (New Bedford, Mass.) added 11 and 10 points apiece, respectively.
Plymouth State struggled in the shooting department all afternoon, converting its shot attempts at only a 31 percent clip. The Panthers connected on just three of 21 tries from three-point range. Senior Jason Blackburn (Hudson, Mass.) led PSC with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore Frankie Finklea (Dorchester, Mass.) and junior Kenny Stewart (Londonderry, N.H.) finished with 12 and 10 points, respectively. Sophomore Ryan Chicoine (Gorham, Maine) scored six points and collected a game-high 14 boards.
PSC, which went 3-2 on its five-game road swing, returns home to host arch-rival Keene State Tuesday (Jan. 22) at Foley Gymnasium (7:30 p.m.).
