PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The senior captain of the Plymouth State College men's basketball team has continued his strong play this season, and has again been honored by the Little East Conference.
Senior Jason Blackburn (Hudson, Mass.) was named to the LEC Weekly Honor Roll after his performance in three games last week. He has been on the LEC Honor Roll back-to-back weeks and three times in January.
A 6'5" forward, Blackburn averaged 19.3 points and 12.3 rebounds, helping PSC to a 2-1 week. He posted a pair of "double-doubles", recording 18 points and 12 rebounds against Castleton State on Thursday, and added 20 points and a season-high 19 boards against Eastern Connecticut on Saturday. He shot 44.9 percent from the floor (22-of-49) and connected on five three-point baskets, while adding eight assists, three blocked shots, and two steals.
A Second Team All-LEC pick last season, Blackburn is among the conference leaders this year in scoring (14.2 ppg), rebounding (8.5 rpg), and field goal percentage (.487). With 958 career points, Blackburn is on the verge of becoming the 17th player in school history to reach the 1,000-point milestone.
The Panthers, 11-7 overall and 5-4 in conference games, wrap up a four-game homestand this Thursday with a non-conference game against Rivier College (7:30 p.m.).
