Stewart to play in All-Star game

BABSON PARK, Mass. - A co-captain on the Plymouth State College men's basketball team has been selected to play in the Senior All-Star Classic on Tuesday (Apr. 15), sponsored by the New England Basketball Coaches Association (NEBCA).

Senior guard Kenny Stewart (Londonderry, N.H.) will represent Plymouth State in the event, which is Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. at the Hart Center on the campus of Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass. Stewart is one of 12 players who will suit up for the South squad, and one of four Little East Conference standouts voted in by the NEBCA.

A 6'2" guard and four-year starter, Stewart is coming off an outstanding season and career in a Panther uniform. He averaged 10.9 points a game this season, and ranked fourth in the conference with 4.8 assists per game. He also led the LEC in free throw percentage (.837). Stewart finished his career with 1,077 points, 11th on PSC's career scoring list.

Stewart was a key ingredient to a Panther team that finished with a 21-8 overall record this season under fourth-year head coach John Scheinman. PSC finished second in the LEC during the regular season, and was edged by Western Connecticut in the closing seconds of the LEC Tournament championship game. The Panthers also earned their second straight post-season appearance, and sixth in the past eight years, with a berth in the ECAC New England Tournament.
