PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The leading scorer on the Plymouth State University men's basketball team was honored Monday with the selection of Little East Conference Player of the Week.
Junior guard Nick Pelotte (Bingham, Maine) received the top weekly honor from the LEC for the first time this season, and the fifth time in his career. He was PSU's leading scorer in a pair of non-conference victories over New England College and Salem State College.
|A 5'10" guard, Pelotte averaged 28.5 points in the two victories, hitting on 73.9 percent of his shots (17-of-23) from the floor, including 66.7 percent (6-of-9) from three-point range. He scored a season-high 33 points in a 101-88 triumph Thursday over Salem State after tossing in 24 points last Tuesday in a 101-53 rout of NEC. He scored 57 points in the two games in just 50 minutes of action.|
Pelotte, who was the LEC Co-Player of the Year last season, has picked up from where he left off last season. He leads the conference in scoring (23.6 ppg), ranks second in three-point FC percentage (.652), third in field goal percentage (.661), fourth in three-point FG's made (3.0 per game), and tied for sixth in assists (4.0 apg).
The Panthers, off to a 5-0 start for the first time since 1998-99, will play two home games this week - Tuesday against Tufts (7:00 p.m.) and Saturday against LEC foe UMass Dartmouth (3:00 p.m.).
