More post-season honors for PSU Men’s Basketball players

PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The top players on the Plymouth State University men's basketball team in 2003-04 were recognized with a series of post-season honors, including several All-Region Teams.

Juniors Anthony Oglesby (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Nick Pelotte (Bingham, Maine) received several of the top honors, while senior Mike Loughlin (Manchester, N.H./West) and freshman Andreas Pope (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also collected accolades. The awards were made by D3Hoops.com, the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), and the New Hampshire Division III Men's Basketball Coaches Association (NHMBCA).

A 6'3" forward, Oglesby was named ECAC All-New England Second Team and Co-MVP of the NHMBCA as well as First Team All-Star. He led the Little East Conference in rebounding (9.9 rpg) and steals (2.9 spg) while contributing 14.6 points per game.


A 5'10" guard, Pelotte was named NABC All-Northeast Region Second Team, D3Hoops.com All-Northeast Region Third Team, ECAC All-New England Honorable Mention, and NHMBCA First Team All-Star. Pelotte led the conference in scoring (18.2 ppg) and ranked fifth in assists (3.5 apg).


A 6'1" forward, Pope was named NHMBCA Rookie of the Year after averaging 10.0 points and 6.8 rebounds and leading the conference in field goal percentage (.623). A 5'10" guard, Loughlin was selected to the NHMBCA Second Team after averaging 12.2 points a game and shooting a league-best 84.6 percent from the free throw line.

These individuals were the leaders on a Panther team that enjoyed one of the top seasons in school history. PSU set a school record with 24 victories, won its first game in the NCAA Tournament for the first time, and ended up with a sparkling 24-6 overall record under fifth-year head coach John Scheinman.
