CASTLETON, Vt.

- Sophomore Andreas Pope (Brooklyn, N.Y.) registered career-highs with 28 points and 13 rebounds Tuesday night, leading the Plymouth State University men's basketball team to a 97-86 victory over Castleton State College.

Pope connected on 12-of-14 shots from the floor to finish with 28 points in just 29 minutes on the court.  He also added a team-high five assists as the Panthers improved to 2-1 heading into the Thanksgiving break.  Castleton State dropped to 0-3.

PSU led 45-43 at the break, and the upset-minded Spartans hung around before the Panthers finally pulled away in the second half.  Senior Nick Pelotte (Bingham, Maine) contributed 16 points and eight rebounds for PSU, while juniors Mark Dunham (Salem, N.H.) and Kevin Boutilier (North Andover, Mass.) added 15 and 13 points, respectively.  Dunham scored all 15 of his points from long-range, making 5-of-6 from beyond the three-point arc.

The Spartans had four players reach double figures in scoring - sophomore Timothy Bellamy (Syracuse, N.Y.) with 16, senior Ray Daley (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with 15, sophomore Jeremy Jorgensen (Fairlee, Vt.) with 14, and senior John Galarneau (Watervliet, N.Y.) with 12.  Jorgensen also collected a team-high 11 rebounds.

Plymouth State is back in action next Tuesday (Nov. 30) at the annual Jacob's Bridge Through Autism Classic, hosted by the New Hampshire Technical Institute in Concord.  PSU will meet Colby-Sawyer at 7:30 p.m., following the 5:30 p.m. match-up between Keene State and New England College.
