More weekly basketball honors for PSU standout
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The leading scorer on the Plymouth State University men's basketball team continues to pile up weekly honors this season, earning more recognition Monday from the Little East Conference.
Senior guard Nick Pelotte (Bingham, Maine) was selected to the LEC Weekly Honor Roll for his effort in PSU's only game last week. It is the second time this season that Pelotte has been recognized by the LEC, and the 13th time in his career. He was also the ECAC New England Player of the Week in mid-December.
A 5'10" guard, Pelotte led Plymouth State to a 67-57
non-conference victory over Middlebury College Sunday in the first
game of 2005. He finished with 24 points and a career-high 11
rebounds while adding three assists and a blocked shot. Pelotte
rebounded from a 2-for-11 shooting effort in the first half to
drain 8-of-14 after the break, scoring 19 points and helping PSU
overcome an eight-point second-half deficit.
A two-time All-LEC First Team selection, Pelotte leads the LEC in scoring this season (23.6 points per game) and ranks seventh in three-point field goals made (2.0 per game) and ninth in assists (3.3 apg).
PSU has won four straight games to improve to 6-3 overall. The Panthers will enjoy three home games this week, hosting Bates on Tuesday (7:00 p.m.), Bowdoin on Thursday (6:00 p.m.), and LEC foe Eastern Connecticut on Saturday (3:00 p.m.)
