PLYMOUTH, N.H. - A pair of seniors on the Plymouth State University basketball teams were recognized by the Little East Conference Monday for their efforts in Panther games last week.
Senior guard Nick Pelotte (Bingham, Maine) and senior guard/forward Betsy Oswalt (Jaffrey, N.H.) were both selected to the LEC Weekly Honor Roll. It is the sixth time this season that Pelotte has been either the LEC Men's Player of the Week or on the Honor Roll, while Oswalt, who missed five of PSU's first seven games recovering from a knee injury, is honored by the LEC for the first time this season.
A 5'10" guard, Pelotte averaged 24.0 points and 5.5 rebounds in
PSU's 2-0 week, leading the team in scoring in both games and
helping the Panthers remain at the top of the LEC standings. He
scored 19 of his 48 points at the free throw line, making 19-of-24
while adding seven assists and five steals. Pelotte leads the
conference in scoring with 25.2 points per game.
A 5'10" guard/forward, Oswalt averaged 17.3 points, 2.3 assists
and 3.0 steals in PSU's 1-2 week. She led PSU in scoring in all
three games, including a season-high 22 points in a win over
Johnson & Wales. The three performances were Oswalt's three
highest scoring games this season. She ranks second on the team in
scoring with 9.3 points per game.
Both Panther teams have non-conference games during the week to wrap up a lengthy home stand before paying a visit to Eastern Connecticut on Saturday for an LEC affair. The PSU men, 13-5 overall and 7-2 in the LEC, host Bowdoin in a make-up game on Tuesday (8:00 p.m.) and Johnson & Wales on Thursday (7:00 p.m.), while the PSU women, 7-11 overall and 4-5 in conference play, host Newbury College on Tuesday (6:00 p.m.)
