PSU Basketball Players earn Little East Conference Weekly Honors
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two members of the Plymouth State University basketball teams were honored by the Little East Conference Monday for their performances in Panther games last week.
Junior forward Andreas Pope (Brooklyn, N.Y.) was named LEC Men's Basketball Player of the Week, while sophomore guard Meghan MacDonald (Salem, N.H.) selected to the LEC Women's Weekly Honor Roll. Both are first-time selections this season.
A 6'1" forward, Pope (left) averaged 26.3 points, 8.3
rebounds, 5.3 assists and 2.0 steals, and shot over 50 percent from
the field, as PSU went 3-0 for the week, including a road win at
defending conference champion Western Connecticut. He finished with
a career-high 30 points in last Thursday's win over Salem State,
and was one assist shy of a triple double in the LEC win at
WestConn. Pope also scored his 1000th career point Saturday at
Western, the 20th men's player at Plymouth State to reach the
A 5'2" guard, MacDonald (right) averaged 15.3 points, 5.0
assists and 3.7 steals in PSU's three games last week. She scored
in double figures in all three games, and matched her career highs
with 18 points, seven assists and six steals in a double-overtime
loss to Salem State.
Both teams will play non-conference home games on Tuesday, Dec. 6, against opponents from the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC). The Panther women, 3-3 overall, entertain Middlebury at 5:30 p.m., while the PSU men, 5-0 overall, host Tufts at 7:30 p.m.
