PSU Mens Basketball player earns regional academic honor
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - One of the senior captains on the Plymouth State University men's basketball team has been honored for his successful accomplishments in the classroom as well as on the basketball court.
Senior Devin Ruocco (Dover, N.H.) has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Team, as selected by CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). Ruocco was voted to the Academic All-District 1 Second Team in the College Division.
A four-year veteran on the hoop team, Ruocco (left) is enjoying his most productive season and is one of the top players in the Little East Conference. He has been the LEC Player of the Week once and on the LEC Weekly Honor Roll twice, and ranks fourth in the league in scoring with 15.3 points per game. Ruocco also ranks second in the conference in both three-point field goals made (2.77 per game) and three-point field goal percentage (.436).
A Business Management major and a Dean's List student every semester he's been at Plymouth State, Ruocco posted a perfect 4.0 grade point average last semester. He is a member of Delta Mu Delta, a Business Honor Society, and he earned Certificate of Merit from PSU Business Department.
To be eligible for the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America program, student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials and maintain at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). He/she must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing and must have completed at least one full academic year at that institution. Academic All-District First Team selections advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America honors.
