PSU Men’s Hoop player earns Little East honor
Burt named Co-Player of the Week for Panthers
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A starting guard on the Plymouth State University men's basketball team was honored Monday with a top weekly honor from the Little East Conference for his performance in a pair of games last week.
Sophomore Alex Burt (Dover, N.H./Dover) was named Little East Co-Player of the Week for the Panthers. He helped PSU to a key LEC win Saturday over the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Burt shared this week's honor with Ryan Martin of Keene State College.
A 6'0" guard, Burt averaged 23.0 points in a 1-1 week, including a career-high 33 points in PSU's 69-67 LEC win over UMass Dartmouth. Burt shot 62.5 percent from the field for the week (15-of-24), including 10-of-14 against UMD. He converted 50 percent from three-point range in both games, making 2-of-4 in Tuesday's loss to Tufts and 3-of-6 vs. the Corsairs. He also collected six assists, four rebounds and three steals in the two outings.
Burt has taken over the team scoring lead with a 14.3 points per game average, which is tied for fifth in the LEC. He also ranks ninth in both three-point field goals made (1.5 per game) and free throw percentage (.759)
The Panthers, 2-6 overall and 1-1 in the conference, wrap up play for the semester this Saturday with a non-conference match-up at Lyndon State College.
