Arsenault is Rookie/Week in Basketball; Fox on Hockey Honor Roll
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two Plymouth State University student-athletes earned weekly conference recognition on Monday from the Little East Conference (LEC) and the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) following their performances in Panther action last week.
Freshman Curtis Arsenault (Berlin, N.H./Phillips Exeter) was named LEC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, and sophomore Zach Fox (Sandown, N.H.) was selected to the MASCAC Men's Ice Hockey Weekly Honor Roll. They were the top players as the Panther men's hoop team went 2-0 for the week and the men's hockey squad won its only game of the week with a conference road victory.
A 6'1" guard, Arsenault averaged 19.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in the 2-0 week for PSU, shooting 60.9 percent from the field. He scored 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting and collected five rebounds in a 73-61 win over Rivier University on Tuesday, and tallied 17 points and eight boards in Saturday's 87-84 overtime win over Lyndon State, canning 6-of-11 from the field. Arsenault also converted 10 points at the free throw line at an 83.3 percent clip (10-12).
Arsenault leads the team in scoring through four games with 17.0 points an outing, and shares the rebounding lead with 6.2 board per contest. He also ranks second in the LEC in field goal percentage, converting at a 58.1 percent clip.
A 6'0", 170-pound forward, Fox played a part in four of PSU's five goals in a 5-3 MASCAC win over Worcester State. He recorded a goal and three assists, all in the third period, scoring the game-winner midway through the frame and assisting on an insurance goal with three minutes to play.
Fox is second on the team in scoring through seven games, and tied for ninth in the MASCAC with two goals and six assists for eight points. He is also tied for fourth in the conference with the six assists.
