PSU Men’s Basketball player named All-Little East Conference
Skevas represents Panthers as Second Team All-Star
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The Little East Conference announced its post-season basketball awards Tuesday, and the starting point guard on the Plymouth State University men's hoop team was recognized for his outstanding season in 2013-14.
Senior guard Petey Skevas (Wethersfield, Conn./Wethersfield) was named a Little East Second Team All-Star for the Panthers. The LEC post-season awards are voted on by the league's head coaches.
A 6'1" guard, Skevas topped the LEC this season with 5.1 assists per game while ranking third in the conference in steals (1.9 per game). He also ranked second on the team and 14th in the LEC in scoring with 12.0 points per outing and stands eighth in field goal percentage (45.5 percent).
A four-year veteran and three-year starter, Skevas has averaged 9.9 points, 4.4 assists and 1.5 steals over his outstanding career. He enters this week with 998 career points, aiming to become the 25th player in the program's history to reach to magical 1,000-point milestone.
The Panthers, 13-13, received a berth in the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III New England Tournament. The eighth-seeded Panthers will travel to top-seeded Nichols College in Dudley, Mass. on Wednesday, Mar. 5, for a first-round game (5:00 p.m.)
