Osgood paces Panthers in LEC loss
WILLIMANTIC, Conn. – The Plymouth State University men's basketball team faced off with #20 Eastern Connecticut State University on Saturday afternoon at Francis E. Geissler Gymnasium, falling to the nationally ranked Warriors 107-55.
PSU falls to 4-4 and 0-2 in Little East play after falling for just the first time in five games away from home. With the win, ECSU recorded its 32nd consecutive LEC regular season home win and improves to 8-1 overall (2-0 LEC).
The game featured the two top scorers in the LEC in PSU sophomore guard Jaylen Leroy (Manchester, N.H.) and Eastern Connecticut senior guard Tarchee Brown (Rockville, Conn.). Leroy, who came in averaging 23.1 points per game, finished with 14 points, while Brown led all players with 28 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and four steals.
Junior Mike Osgood (Nashua, N.H.) led Plymouth with 19 points on 7-of-14 shooting.
The teams battled back-and-forth through the start of the first half. With the teams deadlocked at 13-all, the Warriors took control with a 32-2 run to take a 45-15 lead. The home team kept the pressure on throughout the second half, never giving up more than a five-point run to the Panthers.
Plymouth State will return to action on Thursday (Dec. 14) when they travel to Green Mountain College. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
