Leroy earns second straight Player of the Week nod

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The top scorer for the Plymouth State University men's basketball team was honored for the second straight time by the Little East Conference (LEC).

Sophomore guard Jaylen Leroy (Manchester, N.H.) was named LEC Men's Basketball Player of the Week after leading PSU to a 1-1 week to kick off the 2018 portion of the season. Leroy averaged 34.5 points per game while shooting over 51% from the field and making 9-of-15 attempts from three-point range.

The 6-2 guard finished with 34 points (11-of-21) in the team's 91-73 win over Lyndon State College on Wednesday. Leroy sank 3-of-6 from distance, while adding five rebounds, two assists, two steals and a pair of blocks as the Panther offense returned from the holiday break in explosive fashion.

He was even better in a 59-58 loss at LEC foe Western Connecticut State University on Saturday. Leroy matched a career-high of 35 points (12-of-24) and nailed six three-pointers in the Panthers' narrow defeat. It was the third straight game, and fourth overall, that Leroy has eclipsed the 30-point mark this year.

Leroy's 25.4 points per game scoring average is tops in the LEC and the seventh highest in the nation.

Plymouth State (6-6, 0-3 LEC) will host the University of Massachusetts Boston (7-6, 1-2 LEC) in a key Little East game on Wednesday. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
