PSU Men’s Basketball 2018-19 schedule announced

Panthers open season Nov. 9 at home

            PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Set to begin his eighth season at the helm, Plymouth State University head men's basketball coach Andrew Novick has announced the team's 2018-19 schedule.

            The Panthers will play a 25-game slate, including 16 Little East Conference (LEC) games.

            PSU kicks off the season at home with a non-conference game against St. Joseph's (Maine) on Nov. 9 (7:00 p.m.) as part of Salute the Troops Weekend. The team makes the short trip to New England College on Nov. 10 (7:00 p.m.), before hosting Norwich on Nov. 13 (6:00 p.m.).

            The Panthers will square off with Rivier on Nov. 15 (8:00 p.m.) as part of the annual Boys & Girls Club Classic hosted by NHTI. PSU will close out the month with three straight road games, visiting Northern Vermont University – Lyndon on Nov. 17 (1:00 p.m.), Colby-Sawyer on Nov. 20 (7:30 p.m.), and opening LEC play at Castleton on Nov. 28 (7:30 p.m.).

            The road trip continues into December with league games at UMass Dartmouth (Dec. 1, 3:00 p.m.) and Southern Maine (Dec. 5, 7:30 p.m.). PSU will wrap up the fall semester at home against the defending LEC champions Eastern Connecticut State on Dec. 8 (3:00 p.m.).

            Plymouth State opens 2019 with three straight home contests. The Panthers host Framingham State on Jan 3 (7:30 p.m.), before conference games against Rhode Island College on Jan. 5 (3:00 p.m.) and rival Keene State on Jan. 8 (7:30 p.m.).

            The string of LEC contests continues with games at UMass Boston on Jan. 10 (7:30 p.m.) and Western Connecticut State on Jan. 12 (3:00 p.m.) ahead of a non-conference game at Northern Vermont University – Johnson on Jan. 15 (5:30 p.m.).

            The Panthers return to conference play when they host Castleton on Jan. 19 (3:00 p.m.), then visit RIC and ECSU on Jan. 23 (7:30 p.m.) and Jan. 26 (3:00 p.m.). PSU wraps up January with a home non-league game against Elms on Jan. 28 (7:00 p.m.) ahead of a trip to Keene State (Jan. 30, 7:30 p.m.) for a key LEC match-up.

            Plymouth State settles in for four-straight home conference games to close out the regular season in February. The Panthers square off against Western Connecticut on Feb. 2 (3:00 p.m.), then UMass Boston on Feb. 6 (7:30 p.m.). PSU hosts UMass Dartmouth on Feb. 9 (3:00 p.m.), ahead of celebrating Senior Day on Feb. 13 (7:30 p.m.) against Southern Maine.

            During the summer the LEC announced a change to the conference's championship tournament format. Starting this season just the top six teams will advance, with the top two seeds receiving byes to the semifinal round. First round games will be played at the higher seeds on Feb. 19, with the semifinals and championship game all being held on the campus of the top overall seed. Semifinals will take place on Feb. 22, with the title game set for Feb. 23.
