Rivera tabbed Rookie of the Week for second time

PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Freshman Dante Rivera (Methuen, Mass.) was selected for Little East Conference (LEC) recognition for the second straight week after leading the Plymouth State University men's basketball team to a 2-1 week.

Rivera was chosen as the LEC Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week after averaging 19.0 points, 5.0 steals, 3.7 assists and 3.0 rebounds for the Panthers.

The 5-8 guard poured in 28 points while connecting six times from long range in an 84-74 win over Norwich on Tuesday. He added five steals, three rebounds and two assists against the Cadets.

In Thursday's 65-55 win over Rivier at the annual Boys and Girls Club Classic he stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, six steals, five assists and three rebounds, then closed out the week with a 12-point, four-assist, four-steal effort in a 93-86 setback at NVU-Lyndon on Saturday.

Through five games the standout is averaging 18.6 points a game, tops on the team and seventh in the LEC, while shooting better than 52% from the floor and exactly 50% from beyond the arc.

Plymouth State is back in action on Tuesday (Nov. 20) for a non-conference game at in-state rival Colby-Sawyer College. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
