LeRoy caps career with First Team selection
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The leading scorer of the Plymouth State University men's basketball team was among those honored by the Little East Conference (LEC) as the league announced its all-conference teams and major awards winners on Tuesday.
Senior Jaylen LeRoy (Manchester, N.H.) was selected to the All-LEC First Team following a vote of the league's head coaches. LeRoy helped lead the Panthers to a 16-11 mark, matching the most wins in ten years, while he nearly singlehandedly guided Plymouth State to its first LEC Tournament win in 14 years.
A 6-3 guard, LeRoy was fourth in the LEC in scoring after averaging 19.0 points per game. He was the second most-deadly shooter in the league from beyond the arc (42.5%) and had the third-highest free throw percentage (85.8%), while also posting a career-high in field goal percentage (44.3%).
He closed the season with a flurry, eclipsing the 20-point mark in seven of his final ten games while playing the hero in PSU's 72-70 overtime win against rival Keene State in the first round of the LEC Tournament. In front of a packed Foley Gymnasium, LeRoy banked in an off-balance three-pointer from the right wing over three defenders to tie the game with 0.5 seconds remaining, then scored the game-winning basket on a runner in the lane with two seconds left in overtime, sparking the crowd into a wild, on-court celebration.
He wraps up his career as one of the best-ever to don the green-and-white, sitting fourth on the Panthers' all-time leading scorers with 1,811 points. It is his fourth postseason recognition, after also earning First Team honors in 2017-18, Second Team recognition last season and claiming a spot on the All-Rookie Team in his first year.
Under ninth-year head coach Andrew Novick the Panthers advanced to the semifinals of the LEC Tournament before falling at UMass Dartmouth.
