PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two Plymouth State College hockey player were named to the ECAC Weekly Honor Roll for their contributions in two games last week.
Junior forward Chris Ticconi (Shaker Heights, OH) was selected to the North/Central/South Honor Roll for the second straight week, and freshman Dan Baker (Clifton Park, NY) earned his first selection.
Ticconi has been on a tear recently, scoring at least a goal in five straight games. He notched a power play goal in last Wednesday's 4-3 loss at Framingham State, and came back with a two-goal, two-assist effort Saturday in a 7-3 victory at Worcester State. Ticconi has scored eight goals and three assists in the last five games, and he has taken over the team scoring lead with eight goals and 14 points in 10 games.
Baker came off the bench to stop 17 of the 18 shots he faced in 34 minutes Wednesday at Framingham State. He got his first career start Saturday at Worcester State, picking up the win with 20 saves in the 7-3 win. He improved his season numbers to a 2.33 goals against average (103 minutes) and a .909 saves percentage.
The win over Worcester State snapped a seven-game losing skid for the Panthers, moving PSC to 2-7-1 overall. The team is in the middle of the pack in the ECAC North with a 2-2-1 conference mark, as head coach Sal Leale's squad heads into a break for final exams and the holidays. The Panthers resume action with a key ECAC North contest on Jan. 13th at defending champion Fitchburg State. Plymouth and Fitchburg battled to a 5-5 overtime tie last month at PSC's home rink, the Waterville Valley Ice Arena.
