PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The leading scorer on the Plymouth State College hockey team has received a well-deserved honor from the Eastern College Athletic Conference.
Sophomore Eric Ryan (No. Chelmsford, MA) was selected ECAC North Conference Player of the Week after scoring six goals and assisting on another in two Panther games last week.
A 5'6" forward, Ryan has been on a tear of late. He scored four times in last Tuesday's 12-5 loss at St. Michael's College, and came back with two goals and one assist in Saturday's 6-2 victory at Iona College. Two of his goals were power play markers, and the Panther leading scorer has now counted seven goals in his last three games.
Ryan has almost passed his season point total from his freshman year, when he was second on the team in scoring with eight goals and 17 assists for 25 points in 22 games. Ryan's recent tear has put him atop the Panther scoring list with 14 goals and 10 assists in 17 games, including a team-high four power play goals.
Plymouth State is in sixth place in the nine-team ECAC North Conference with a 4-5-1 league mark, and 5-11-1 overall under second-year coach Sal Leale. The Panthers still have sights set on finishing with a winning record, with eight games left of the schedule.
PSC plays a pair of conference games this weekend -- Saturday (Feb. 7) vs. Curry College at Waterville Valley Ice Arena (4:00 p.m.), and Sunday (Feb. 8) at Johnson and Wales (5:15 p.m., recently changed from 7:15 p.m.).
