pSC Men's Hockey hits break with win over Lebanon Valley
ANNVILLE, Pa. - Plymouth State College's ice hockey team finished the first half of the season on a winning note Friday night with 5-2 ECAC Northeast Conference victory over Lebanon Valley College.
Juniors Eric Ryan (North Chelmsford, MA) and Kevin Creighton (Falmouth, MA) each rammed home two goals, including a power play goal apiece. Ryan leads the Panthers in scoring with 10 goals and six assists in 10 games, while Creighton improved his totals to four goals and six assists.
Senior Josh Perry (Falmouth, MA) also scored for PSC as the Panthers built a 1-0 lead in the first period. Ryan and Creighton combined to notch four straight second period goals as PSC extended its lead to 5-0 before Lebanon Valley got on the board. Vincent Ruiz and Dan Fox lit the lamp for the Flying Dutchmen, but PSC held on for the win.
Freshman standout goalie Larry Forgue (Nashua, NH) made 25 saves to pick up the victory for PSC. Forgue is having an outstanding rookie season, registering a 4-2 record, a 1.60 goals against average and a .936 saves percentage.
The Panthers now take a break for final exams and the holidays, completing the first half with a 6-4-0 overall record. PSC is 4-2-0 in ECAC Northeast games, which is tied for fifth in the 18-team league. The top eight teams will make the ECAC post-season tournament. Lebanon Valley drops to 4-3-0 overall and 3-3-0 in the Northeast.
PSC's next game is against Johnson & Wales on Saturday, Jan. 9, an ECAC Northeast conference game at Waterville Valley Ice Arena (7:00 p.m.).
