PSC Hockey registers first win of season
AUBURN, Mass. - Seniors Rich Vega (New Milford, Conn.) and Eric Ryan (North Chelsmford, Mass.) and junior Tom Beaulieu (Hudson, NH) scored two goals apiece Saturday night, leading the Plymouth State College ice hockey team to a 7-1 ECAC Northeast Conference victory over Nichols College.
The victory was PSC's first of the season in two tries under second-year head coach Mike Bonelli , while Nichols falls to 0-4.
Vega added a pair of assists to his two goals and Ryan chipped in with one assist. The Panthers led 2-1 after one period, 4-1 after two, and poured it on with three goals in the third period. Senior Kevin Creighton (Falmouth, Mass.) also found the net for the Panthers for his first goal of the season.
The Panthers outshot the Bison by a 44-19 margin. PSC sophomore Larry Forgue (Nashua, NH) stopped 13 of the 14 shots he faced, and junior Cliff Mask (London, ONT) came on for the final 10 minutes and made five saves.
PSC, 1-1, returns home for a Tuesday (Nov. 16) night ECAC Northeast affair at Waterville Valley against Stonehill College (7 p.m.).
