PSC Hockey ends semester with setback at Lebanon Valley
WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. - Sophomore Jamie Taylor (Sharon, ONT) scored the game-winner three minutes and 46 seconds into overtime Friday night, lifting Lebanon Valley College to a 3-2 ECAC Northeast Hockey Conference victory over Plymouth State College at the Waterville Valley Ice Arena.
Freshman Brian Yingling (Steelton, PA) had a hand in all three LVC goals. He scored the initial tally of the game just 47 seconds after the opening face-off, the assisted on both the tying goal by Chris White (Peterborough, ONT) with seven minutes left in the third period, and Taylor's overtime game-winner.
Plymouth State got a goal from freshman Dave Lebel (Auburn, MA), his second in as many outings and third in PSC's last four games. The goal, which was assisted by freshman Chad Fitzpatrick (North Quincy, MA) and sophomore Pete Seriano (Safety Harbor, FL), put PSC on the board midway through the opening frame.
Just 37 seconds later, the Panthers got their first lead on Erik Nadeau's (Waterville, ME) second goal of the season, with assists from Tom Beaulieu (Hudson, NH) and Eric Ryan (North Chelmsford, MA). The helper for Ryan moved him to within four career points of the 100-point milestone, as he now has 45 goals, 51 assists and 96 points in 79 career games.
PSC held the 2-1 lead until White's goal at the 13:06 mark of the third. The Flying Dutchmen outshot the Panthers by a slim 36-33 margin, with PSC sophomore Larry Forgue (Nashua, NH) making 33 saves and LVC sophomore Kevin Block (Webster, NY) stopping 31 shots.
Plymouth State, 1-5-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the ECAC Northeast, takes a break for final exams and the holidays before returning to action on Jan. 8th at UMass Dartmouth and Jan. 9th at Johnson & Wales. The next home game is Tuesday, Jan. 11th, against Assumption at Waterville Valley.
