PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two goalies on the Plymouth State College ice hockey team have been recognized by the Eastern College Athletic Conference Northeast Division for their efforts in three PSC games last week.
Junior Larry Forgue (Nashua, N.H.) was selected ECAC Northeast Goalie of the Week, and freshman Mike Mansson (Wilson, Wy.) was named to the Northeast Weekly Honor Roll. It is the second such honor this season for Forgue, and the first for Mansson.
A 5'9", 170-pounder, Forgue made a season high 47 saves last Friday in a 2-1 loss at SUNY Fredonia. He stopped 24 of 25 shots in the second period by the Blue Devils, a member of the powerful State University of New York Athletic Association (SUNYAC).
A 6'4", 200-pound rookie, Mansson turned in a solid performance last Tuesday in his first collegiate start against Southern Maine. He stopped 35 of 39 shots by the Huskies, but USM came from behind to post the 4-2 victory.
Forgue and Mansson both saw action in Saturday's 10-1 setback at Buffalo State, the veteran making 22 saves on 28 shots and the rookie turning aside seven of 11 shots.
The Panthers, 1-1-0 in the Northeast and 1-6-1 overall, are now idle for final exams and the holidays. PSC returns to action on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 29-30 at the New England Holiday Tournament in Henniker, N.H., facing host NEC and Potsdam State.
