FRAMINGHAM, Mass. - Roger LeBlanc and John Karvelas scored two goals apiece Saturday evening to lead Framingham State College to a 6-1 victory over Plymouth State College in an ECAC Northeast Conference ice hockey contest.
It was a 2-1 hockey game midway through the second period, but the Rams scored two more times before the end of the second and added a pair of unanswered third period goals to skate away with the victory. Framingham State is now 2-4-0 in the conference and 4-8-0 overall, while the Panthers drop to 2-3-0 and 2-10-1.
Jason Bastien scored the only goal of the first period for Framingham, and LeBlanc connected just 32 seconds into the second stanza to put the Rams up by two. PSC sophomore Craig Russell (Northfield, Vt.) cut the lead in half at 5:16 of the second, with freshman Garrett Dionne (Clarence Center, N.Y.) and Chris Tortorella (Larchmont, N.Y.) getting the assists.
But it was Framingham the rest of the way, with Ryan Dubb and Karvelas scoring in the middle period and LeBlanc and Karvelas adding their second goals in the third period.
The Rams had a slim 34-30 edge in shots on goal. Anthony Cusumano made 29 saves in the Framingham net, while Panther junior Larry Forgue (Nashua, N.H.) made 28 saves in the loss.
PSC returns home to Waterville Valley Ice Arena for its next two games, hosting New Hampshire College on Tuesday (Jan. 16) at 7 p.m. and Johnson & Wales Saturday (Jan. 20) at 4 p.m.
