PSC comes back to defeat Framingham State
WATERVILLE VALLEY, N.H. - Plymouth State College overcame a 3-1 deficit Saturday evening and went on to capture a 5-3 victory over Framingham State College in an ECAC Northeast Conference hockey game at Waterville Valley Ice Arena.
Sophomore Matt Toutain (Lewiston, Maine) scored two goals and freshman Michal Bodnar (Laconia, N.H.) added a goal and an assist to lead the Panthers. The win improves PSC to 3-8-0 overall and 3-4-0 in conference play, while the Rams drop to 1-13-1 overall and 0-8-0 in the ECAC Northeast.
The Rams took a 3-1 lead in the first period on goals by junior Jason Bastien (McMurray, Pa.), sophomore Rick Belmonte (S.Boston, Mass.) and junior Bill Burke (Braintree, Mass.). Toutain netted his first of the game for PSC to keep the Panthers in the contest.
Bodnar scored the only goal of the second period, but the Rams took a 3-2 lead into the third period. Toutain tied the game at 3-apiece with a power play goal in the opening minute. Freshman Mitchell LaFleur (Levittown, Pa.) tallied his first career goal for the eventual game-winner for PSC at the 4:29 mark, and freshman Chris Starr (Old Greenwich, Conn.) added his first career goal for insurance with six minutes remaining.
Sophomore Mike Mansson (Wilson, Wy.) made 25 saves to pick up his first career victory in the Panther net. Freshman Steve Thompson (Brockton, Mass.) recorded 34 saves for Framingham State.
The Panthers return to action Tuesday with a conference game at Southern New Hampshire (7:00 p.m.) while the Rams resume play Thursday with an ECAC Northeast contest against Worcester State (7:30 p.m.).
