PLYMOUTH, N.H. - Two members of the Plymouth State College ice hockey team were recognized Thursday for their work off the ice with selection to the ECAC Division III Northeast Conference All-Academic Team.
Sophomores Michal Bodnar (Olomouc, Czech Republic) and Mitchell LaFleur (Levittown, Pa.) were PSC's selections to the All-Academic Team. This is the first year the league has recognized student-athletes for their accomplishments in the classroom.
To be named to the All-Academic Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore, have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale), and compete in at least half of his team's contests.
Bodnar, a business management major, scored three goals and nine assists for PSC in 17 games, tallying two goals on the power play. LaFleur, a biology major, finished fifth on the team in scoring with five goals and nine assists, playing in all 22 games. He had one short-handed goal and was credited with two game-winning goals.
Plymouth State finished the 2002-03 season with a 5-12-5 overall record, and placed 10th in the Northeast with a 3-9-4 conference mark.
