First-place Curry blanks PSU Mens Ice HockeyMILTON, Mass.
- Junior goalie Bryan Madison (Cumberland, R.I.) stopped all 19 shots he faced and freshman Trevor Spiridi (Cranston, R.I.) and senior Casey Reasonover (East Falmouth, Mass.) scored two goals apiece Tuesday evening to lead Curry College to an 8-0 whitewash of Plymouth State University in ECAC Northeast Conference men's ice hockey action at Max D. Ulin Rink.
The Colonels, who are tied with Wentworth for first place in the Northeast, improve to 11-4-3 overall and 9-0-1 in conference play. Curry also extended its regular-season conference unbeaten streak to 37 games (36-0-1). Plymouth State, which lost to Wentworth 1-0 in its last outing, dropped to 6-8-2 overall and 3-4-1 in the Northeast.
Curry took a 3-0 lead after one period and extended it to 5-0 after two frames before cruising home with the win. The Colonels finished with a 31-19 advantage in shots on goal.
PSU freshman goalie Karl Helgesson (Lerum, Sweden) surrendered five goals on 21 shots before giving way at the start of the third period to sophomore Kyle VanDingstee (Skaneateles, N.Y.)
After playing five of their last six games on the road, going 3-3 in that span, the Panthers return home to host Johnson & Wales on Saturday in a conference game at Waterville Valley Ice Arena (6:00 p.m.). Curry is also back in action on Saturday, visiting Nichols (8:30 p.m.)
