PSU Mens Ice Hockey player receives ECAC Weekly Honor
PLYMOUTH, N.H. - A junior forward on the Plymouth State University men's ice hockey team has been recognized by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) for his efforts in PSU's three games last week.
Junior Goose LaCroix (Moretown, Vt.) was named ECAC Northeast Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday. He has helped PSU to a 6-3-1 start to the season, including a 2-1 record in three games last week.
A 5'8", 170-pound forward, LaCroix (left) finished the
week with three goals and two assists in three games as PSU won its
only conference game. He scored two goals and an assist in
Thursday's 7-6 non-conference win over Suffolk, and added a goal
and an assist in Sunday night's 6-2 conference win at Nichols. He
was selected the No. 2 star in both games.
LaCroix, who transferred to PSU from Salve Regina before the 2004-05 season, has nearly equaled his point total from all of last year, when he finished with seven goals and six assists in 25 games. He has five goals and five assists in 10 games this season. His younger brother, sophomore Topo LaCroix (Moretown, Vt.), has also improved his offensive numbers from last season; he has five goals and two assists in 10 games this season after finishing with three goals and six assists in 25 games a year ago.
Plymouth State's six wins before the holiday break matches the most victories since the 1998-99 team finished the first semester at 6-4-0. After the annual break for final exams and the holidays, the Panthers, tied for second at 4-0-0 in the Northeast, return to competition on Saturday, Jan. 7, with a Northeast Conference game against Framingham State at Waterville Valley (1:00 p.m.)
