PLYMOUTH, N.H. - The starting goaltender on the Plymouth State University men's ice hockey team was recognized by the Eastern College Athletic Conference Tuesday with selection to the ECAC Northeast Weekly Honor Roll.
Freshman Allen Schneider (Strongsville, Ohio) made another appearance on the ECAC Weekly Honor Roll. Schneider was honored twice by the ECAC last month, once on the Weekly Honor Roll and once as Goalie of the Week.
A 6'1", 170-pound goalie, Schneider recorded his first career shutout in PSU's only game of the week, making 45 saves to earn a 2-0 win over Worcester State. Schneider made 22 saves in the third period when the Lancers out-shot PSU, 22-4. He withstood five WSC power play opportunities in the third period and 10 for the game.
Schneider ranks among the league leaders in several categories. He is sixth among the 28 goalies and second among freshmen in saves percentage (.916) and 10th overall and second among rookies in goals against average (3.30). He is also fourth overall in minutes played (1,128).
PSU completed the regular season with an 11-12-2 overall record, and a 6-8-2 mark in the ECAC Northeast. Due to some forfeits suffered by Suffolk University, the Panthers are tied with Johnson & Wales University for eighth place in the conference and the final playoff spot. The final playoff berths will be determined following Tuesday's resumption of a suspended game between JWU and Worcester State College.
