PSU Men’s Hockey player receives top weekly honor
Sophomore Jack Astedt named MASCAC Goalie of the Week
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – The starting goaltender on
the Plymouth State University men’s ice hockey team was
recognized Tuesday with one of the top weekly honors from the
Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC).
Sophomore Jack Astedt (Angelholm, Sweden) was
named MASCAC Goalie of the Week after leading the Panthers to a
shutout victory in their only game to date. This marks the
second time in his career that Astedt has received the award; he
earned it for the first time last February.
A 6’1”, 175-pound netminder, Astedt (right) stopped all 18 shots he faced as PSU blanked Southern New Hampshire University, 6-0, on Nov. 6 in the inaugural contest at PSU’s new Hanaway Rink. He faced 10 Penmen power play opportunities and denied them all en route to his first career shutout.
Plymouth State, 1-0, is back on the ice this Thursday at Hanaway Rink with the MASCAC opener against defending champion Salem State University (7:00 p.m.)
