MASCAC honor for PSU Men’s Hockey player
Stewart recognized after winning MVP honors
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A senior on the Plymouth State University men’s ice hockey team has been honored by the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) for his performance in PSU’s holiday tournament in late December.
Senior forward Andrew Stewart (O’Leary, PEI) was named to the MASCAC Weekly Honor Roll Monday, his first career weekly conference honor. Steward helped the Panthers to the championship of the PSU Invitational with victories over Salve Regina University and the University of New England.
A 6’0”, 175-pound forward, Stewart was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament. He scored two goals and one assist in the first-round victory over Salve Regina, including the game-winner, and he assisted on both Panther third-period goals, including the game-winner, in PSU’s 6-5 championship game victory over the University of New England.
Stewart is tied for fourth on the team in scoring with four goals and six assists.
Plymouth State, 7-1-3 overall and 3-1-2 in the MASCAC, plays again Monday in the second game of a two-game set at Wentworth Institute of Technology.
