N.H. Governor and First Lady Visit PSU Ice Arena

Plymouth, N.H. –"I love Plymouth State – I really do," remarked a smiling Governor John Lynch as he and First Lady Susan Lynch enjoyed a spirited visit to Plymouth State University's Ice Arena Dec. 8 prior to a PSU Men's hockey game with UMass Dartmouth. Gov. Lynch, an accomplished hockey player, laced up the skates and enjoyed a workout on Hanaway Rink ice before dropping the ceremonial puck before the game's face-off.

Lynch was also presented with several gifts by members of the PSU administration and men's and women's ice hockey teams, including a personalized jersey. Lynch was a longtime advocate for construction of the Ice Arena and Welcome Center during his tenure on the University System Board of Trustees.

"As a former trustee of the University System of New Hampshire and former chair of the board, I love Plymouth State; it's a great education," Lynch said. "The University attracts well-rounded students, the faculty is outstanding, really focusing on teaching and they produce wonderful graduates."

Also in attendance for the festivities were longtime USNH Trustees and PSU alums Gene and Joan Savage, benefactors of the Gene and Joan Savage Welcome Center located at the Ice Arena, and former USNH Trustee Merle Schotanus, a longtime supporter of the rink, who was accompanied by his wife Helen, and Ken Moulton '73 and his wife, Jackie, '73, '02G. Several of the visiting dignitaries skated with Governor Lynch as part of the visit.
