Greco leads PSU Men’s Hockey past Westfield State
Astedt posts third shutout for Panthers
WESTFIELD, Mass. – Junior Kyle Greco recorded two goals and two assists Thursday evening to pace Plymouth State University to a 4-0 victory over Westfield State University in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) men's ice hockey game.
Junior goaltender Jack Astedt stopped all 15 shots he faced to earn his third shutout of the season. Plymouth State remains in first place in the MASCAC with a 6-1 record; the Panthers are 9-4 overall. Westfield drops to 1-5-1 and 2-8-2.
Plymouth took a 2-0 first-period lead on goals by senior Chris Zaremba at 10:59 and Greco at 17:56. The Panthers scored their final two goals in the second period, in which Westfield was shorthanded for 11 of 20 minutes, including a five-minute major penalty power play that led to both goals. Greco scored 11 seconds into the five-minute major and junior Richie Zobak capped the scoring with a goal exactly six minutes into the period.
Zaremba finished with a goal and an assist and junior Alex Cottle collected three assists.
The Panthers play another MASCAC road game Saturday at Framingham State.
