PSU Men’s Hockey players receive MASCAC honors
Greco earns top honor, Astedt named to Honor Roll
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – Two key members of the Plymouth State University men's ice hockey team were recognized Monday with weekly recognition from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC).
Junior Kyle Greco was named MASCAC Men's Ice Hockey Player of the Week, and classmate Jack Astedt was selected to the MASCAC Weekly Honor Roll. Both are repeat honorees this season as Greco was the Player of the Week once last month and Astedt has been Goalie of the Week three times and an Honor Roll selection twice.
A 6'1", 210-pound assistant captain, Greco played a part in all four Panther goals last Thursday in a 4-0 victory at Westfield State University, scoring two goals and assisting on the other two. He also collected an assist in Saturday's 3-3 draw at Framingham State University to finish with a five-point week (2-3-5).
Greco leads the Panthers and ranks second in the MASCAC in scoring with eight goals, a league-high 12 assists for 20 points in 13 games. Included in his totals are four power play goals and three game-winners, which are both tied for the MASCAC lead.
A 6'1", 175-pound goalie, Astedt posted a 1.44 goals against average and a .930 saves percentage in the two games last week. He made 15 saves Thursday in the 4-0 victory at Westfield State for his third shutout of the season, and stopped 25 shots in Saturday's 3-3 draw at Framingham State.
Astedt is ranked second in the MASCAC with a 2.12 goals against average. He also leads the league with nine victories and a .731 winning percentage (9-3-1).
Plymouth State, 9-4-1 overall and 6-1-1 in the MASCAC, returns to Hanaway Rink this week for home games against Salem State University on Thursday and Worcester State University on Saturday.
