PSU Men’s Hockey player shares MASCAC weekly honor
Arnone key for Panthers in pivotal road win at Salem State
PLYMOUTH, N.H. – A sophomore on the Plymouth State University men's ice hockey team was recognized Monday with one of the weekly honors from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC).
Sophomore Phil Arnone was named MASCAC Co-Player of the Week for his efforts in a pivotal road win at Salem State University last Saturday. Arnone shared this week's award with Westfield State University freshman Steve Evans.
A 5'7", 160-pound forward, Arnone scored two goals and assisted on another in PSU's only game, a 4-3 road win at Salem State that helped the Panthers leapfrog the Vikings into first place in the MASCAC. After scoring the first goal of the game, Arnone jump-started PSU's three-goal third-period rally with a power play goal and he also assisted on the tying goal three minutes later.
Arnone is now fourth on the team in scoring with six goals and nine assists for 15 points in 21 games. He is also second on the team with four power play markers.
Plymouth State, 13-6-2 overall and riding a four-game winning streak, is atop the MASCAC standings with an 10-3-2 league mark with three games remaining. PSU travels to Worcester State University on Thursday and hosts the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth Saturday on Senior Day at Hanaway Rink.
